Rushdie on his 10th Novel
Hi all! Happy summer. Here’s a great podcast interview with Salman Rushdie on the topic of his new novel. He has the charm turned up full blast and even makes a cute joke about all the ‘post’ labels (-modern, -colonial) affixed to his work.
In lieu of a Rushdie picture I am posting this beautiful depiction of a tawny owl. The resemblance is obvious.
Enjoy!

Molly, Well done keeping us up to date on the Booker of all Bookers. Is it really any surprise that Sir Rushdie took home the prize once again? Pondering your post, it really is that bevy of “post-”s that allows Midnight’s Children to carry such worldwide appeal even amongst those who haven’t read it. The award, especially given its populist presumptions, solidifies my thinking on the evolution of the prize into a reader’s digest, as it were, of the novels of the former colonies.
